I am an artist instructor living in Indianapolis Indiana, teaching at the Indianapolis Art Center; through my home studio with small groups or private and Gage Academy of Art – 360 online. I am inspired by the Old Masters and the variety of their painting techniques, comparative religion, world culture and the subtleties and sensuality of the human spirit.

Although my first love is drawing – in any medium – and painting. My work leans towards realism with figure and portraiture using oils, pastels, including scanned life drawings with digital collage. I enjoy learning new techniques and trying new mediums, experimenting with silver point and moving in a new direction with figure sculpting while learning bronze casting are recent pursuits.

I was born prematurely at six months with impaired vision and a misaligned left eye. Growing up in a time when differences were less accepted, art provided a refuge, a place where I found solace and through which I developed skills to offset my difficulties. Legally blind in one eye challenges depth perception which is something I have tried to "see" as I work with the figure and portraiture.

I received art awards through my early years and graduated from the Herron School of Art with a BFA in painting and printmaking. From there my career expanded with my husband to 40 years as Linder Design creating graphics, murals, and signs. Resuming my interest in fine art in 2000 at the Indianapolis Art Center, I received the faculty of the year 2014 Skip McKinney Fellowship, that enabled me to attend many workshops with internationally known artists to expand my knowledge.

Working with our community, I received the Keep Indianapolis Beautiful award as creative director for the annual Lilly Global Day of Service mural projects. Special projects over the years include the Indiana International Council’s cultural chalk events, the Future Farmers of America convention mural project, One America, Sun King and other group events.

I have had work exhibited in state, regional, national, and international exhibits. I create works through a variety of mediums, colored pencil, pastels, paint, digital and bronze.

I enjoy encouraging students to explore their creativity believing that drawing is the foundation of all artistic pursuits.
